This is a project in development for Silver Swan Ragtime Innovations, Inc., a 501c3 non-profit dedicated to finding new ways to spread the joy and meaning of Ragtime music. In 2027, we hope to launch a pilot program in one of our local middle schools. We have assembled five musician/educators who are experts in New Orleans regional performance practices to teach virtual lessons to young music students.

We have created five special arrangements for marching band and student orchestra, beginning with the namesake composition of our operation, Scott Joplin's 1908 "School of Ragtime", a series of 6 exercises representing the great composer's most important priorities for interpreting his works. The other four arrangements—also by the same composer—build on these concepts and will give our young people a rich experience that they will carry for the rest of their lives.
